About Hana Ormara

Hana Ormara is a visual artist and poet. Hana graduated from Central Saint Martins with a degree in Industrial Design and says her first loves remain drawing and writing. Her work has been published in anthologies by Renard Press,  the International Human Rights Arts Movement (IHRAM) and in literary magazines. She won an honourable mention at the 2024 Cheltenham Poetry Festival for her poem ‘Sign Bearer to the Beloved’, dedicated to Gerald Holtam’s iconic peace symbol. Hana’s writing is deeply inspired by her Baloch heritage and its indigenous traditions of storytelling through spoken word. Hana draws on themes of womanhood and a love of humanity and says: 'In a world where humans are becoming increasingly dependent on technology and artificial intelligence, our survival and evolution relies on voicing the space between our hearts and minds: our imagination.’ Hana’s debut pamphlet Godhuma: The Breathing of the Earth, published by Intergraphia Press honours the ancient people of Mehrgarh.

Hana Ormara's beautifully produced chapbook integrates words and illustrations in a seamless flow. The use of hieroglyphics and powerful black and white pastel drawings are placed carefully on the page and the fold out A3 poster is a stunning element. Congratulations to Intergraphia for curating a beautiful series of pamphlets.
